The 1987 version by Eurythmics is the most-played – and is responsible for the song being so popular in the modern era, it having lost popularity since it’s original release in 1934 by Guy Lombardo and then in 1946 by the Andrews Sisters.

It was written by composer Felix Bernard and lyricist Richard B. Smith – the inspiration for it coming when the park in Smith’s hometown of Honesdale, Pennsylvania was covered in snow one day.

It’s not specifically a Christmas song, but certainly has fallen into that category over the years.
